First edition in English, originally published in French four years previously. Collection of the work of one of the greats of jazz photography. Apprenticed to Karsh for a year, Leonard went on to work as a freelance in New York shooting at Birdland and the Royal Roost, joined Norman Granz producing numerous record covers and worked for Marlon Brando as his personal photographer. His collection is now housed at the permanent archives of American Musical History in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C.
